Meet Our Incredible Pooches!

At Pawsitive Futures, we believe that every dog deserves a loving home where they can thrive and be cherished. Our furry friends are not just pets; they are family members waiting to bring endless joy and happiness into your life. Each dog has its own unique story, character and quirks that make them special. These are the loving canines who are eagerly awaiting their forever homes. All our dogs come with a free settling in session from Kit the Dog Trainer who works with them while they are in our care.

Arnold

Ready Now

Arnold is 6 years old, hes a Miniature Poodle. He is neutered and up to date with his vaccinations.

3 years ago he had spinal surgery for IVDD, this has left him partially incontinent. He has some sensation and tries very hard to go for a wee, but only manages to partially empty his bladder. He needs help to fully empty the rest (this is very easy to learn). He sometime has the sdensation that he needs to empty his bowel, and he will run outside. Other times he has no idea. He can have his bowel expressed, which is easy to do and full training can be given.

He absolutely loves his walks, he gets very excited when he sees his harness. We have tried him in wheels, but he really prefers to walk by himself, which he does, he just looks like he's been to the pub 🤭

Arnold is tolerant of other dogs, and can live with another dog as long as they are calm and won't be bouncy around him. We do feel he would much prefer to be an only dog where he gets all the attention and doesn't feel like he needs to protect his spine.

He was underweight when he came into our care, we have transitioned him to a raw diet which he absolutely loves and has gained what he needs to be a healthy weight. He would love to remain on a raw diet, but this is not a deal breaker as long as he is on a high quality diet that will support his health.

As he is a Poodle he needs regualr brushing to maintain his coat, he loves being brushed!

All Arnold needs is a comfy bed, a short walk each day, someone who will look beyond his disability and some good food. He's an easy going boy who just wants to be loved and be part of the family. He can live with children over 8 as long as they realise he has some limitations where exercise is concerned.

Arnold is crate trained, he's working on his recall when he sees other dogs, and he is able to be left for a few hours with no issues.

Could you be Arnold's forever home?

Teddy

Not ready in the near future.

Teddy is an 11 month old Maltichon, he is up to date with his vaccinations.

Teddy was born with a paw defect where his tendons did not properly form in his right paw. We are in discussons with our vet and surgeon about the best course of action, whether that is amputation or physio and a splint. He knuckles when he walks and that has caused him to rip out a claw which then got infected. When he first arrived he was showing signs of aggression due to pain. We have managed to get his pain under control, but Teddy still has food aggression and is reactive to new people and dogs. He is fine with dogs in the home, but can show signs of aggression around food. We are working with our behaviourist on this. What is apparent is that he is extremely anxious, so we are working on building his confidence and resilience. He is, underneath all his bravado a dear little boy who just wants to be loved.

He won't be available for a few months while we help him to become the best version of himself, but we're confident that he will overcome his anxieties when his medical issues are sorted.

As Teddy has a bite history (due to pain) we will not home him with children, but he can live with other calm dogs. He needs brushing daily to maintain his bichon/maltese coat.

Teddy is crate trained, has great recall and is able to be left for a few hours with no issues.
